Watched this thriller the other night with the wife on Neflix. I enjoyed it but came away with a lot of questions about it as I reflected on the storyline. I won't spoil it for those that have yet to see if but wouldn't mind chatting with those that have at some point.

I watched it last week and plan on listening to the Audiobook. I enjoyed it as well, and of course the "A Quiet Place" comparisons will present themselves, but I've read that the Bird Box novel was published before that film.

I'm very curious about Sandra Bullock's character's backstory as I didn't notice how much of a "sociopath" she was until her "loss" towards the end of the film.

We watched this last night. I think it came across as it was intended. I don't know that I can say I enjoyed it, but I don't know if I can enjoy this kind of film anymore. I thought a couple of things (scenes in the movie) were really good thoughts etc. and others just had characters being plan dumb.

I found it interesting but not compelling. I thought it was going to be a thriller but it was a weak supernatural horror story - weak because it failed and was not scary. I give it 2 stars.

    Meh, coulda shoulda woulda.
    Sociopath... hmmm, her character
Was problematic. From the get go at the OB/gyn. To “boy” “girl” & guy????

Not motivated to read the book.

When you do—- please touch base.

This movie utterly failed in every way beyond the opening setup. It was painfully obvious to me that the writers had no idea what they were doing, a la "Lost". Bullock tries, but there isn’t any substance, rules (world building), or anything deeper beyond the shaky premise, which falls apart if one spends more than oh 2 seconds thinking.

I'm not reading the thread in case of spoilers. My 14 year old kind of wants to see this. She's seen A Quiet Place. Any concerns?

There is a brief sex scene, foul language and some violence, nothing over the top in my mind. Having said that my 11 year old will not be seeing it anytime soon. Meh, maybe it is a little worse than that, some of the suicide scenes are fairly graphic. I haven't seen A Quiet Place, so I can't compare.

and on that related note the two mild "sex scenes"
are brief and add nothing to the plot...

I’ll also add that "A Quiet Place" is a far superior film with real suspense and stakes because it establishes rules up front that mostly make sense and sticks to them. It also doesn’t make the bone headed bad-writing 101 decision to eliminate all tension by revealing who survives almost immediately.
