I know of or even have a few of those and will seek out the others.

I've been listening to Jazz much more in the last year or so and finally finding the grooves and increasing my knowledge base. I've created a dense Sunday morning playlist using multiple Genius PLs generated by iTunes. It works really well. Major players include Art Blakey, Sonny Rollins, Ella Fitzgerald, Sachmo, Duke Ellington, Ornette Coleman, Coltrane and Miles, Stan Getz, Nancy Wilson, Cannonball Adderley plus many others. It's not all the classics either. I've mixed in Metheny, Norah Jones, Eva Cassidy, Krall, even my ex-BIL Ben Wolfe. By far, my favorite new Jazz band, which is as much Trip-Hop and Indie, is GoGo Penguin. I've posted them awhile back but thought I'd do put up a stellar, uplifting live show again here. (The drummer is amazing). Perhaps others can post Random Jazz Posts here like the other thread?

I mentioned my ex-BIL Ben Wolfe above. Here's an old video that's a lot of fun. He played Bass on Harry's Xmas album. His Gold Record adorns his den wall. He also played for and recorded a lot with Diana Krall. He swears they were "more than just friends" when he supported her on a European tour. Maybe that's when she met Elvis Costello? ;)

Interesting list for sure, but what is jazz? What is not? I have two Miles Davis albums, Kind of blue and Bitches Brew, as 'pure' jazz, but a lot of other music that is also jazz, I guess. Or not. What about Sting in his 50s, when he did All this time with bunch of jazz musicians, was that jazz? Was it essential? I sure think it is.
What about Bryan Ferry's dixie stuff for Gatsby?
Basically, I like good music, regardless of genre

Some artists I like Abdullah Ibrahim (Dollar Brand), Paquito Rivera, Gonzalo Rubalcaba. Check them out on Youtube first.
WRTI jazz stream is a decent station for background jazz music their DJs are knowledgeable. Although they stream at 128Kb somehow they sound better than some other Jazz streams at 320Kb.
