Starring the impossibly handsome Chris Hemsworth, directorial debut of stunt coordinator Sam Hargrave (of Avengers movies).

I have complaints, sure. But overall I loved watching this celebration of kinetic energy and violence. There is an 11-minute no-cut (well, edited to appear that way) sequence, right after Tyler (Hemsworth) picks up his target, with some really amazing camera work, stunt work, and fight choreography that you really have to see. Hemsworth is quite serviceable as a grizzled and troubled mercenary. Somehow the makeup department manages to make him not look like a walking wet dream the whole time. Give it a try.

The review I read of this called it a 2-hour action scene in search of a movie. I am glad you liked it but not my sort of thing.

I was entertained. The flick looks like action from a video game.

It started out pretty good, but slowly became boring, which no action movie should ever be. Missable.

Yeah that was my feeling as well. The first 1/3 was good with a limp middle 1/3 and an ending that doesn't quite live up to the strong opening. It feels like there are pieces of story and character development missing or more likely under-cooked and under-developed. Hemsworth looks and acts the part well but is let down by the writing.

Golshifteh Farahani needs her own sequel.

The pure action movies are usually just that. Going back to Crank, some are almost parody. Did anyone see Hardcore Henry? I tried to watch it but it made me nauseated.

Hated Hardcore Henry, I didn’t finish it. The bit wore thin about 15 minutes in.

I watched this Sunday evening. Yea, some John Wick/Call of Duty vibes throughout. Nothing out of the ordinary regarding the storyline, just an entertaining action flick.

I watched about 10 minutes of Hard Core Henry a few years ago, I just gave up.

I watched Henry. Neat trick but didn’t leave a lasting impression. Now Upgrade on the other hand...
