The show is being revived on CBS. Hope it is as funny as it was in 1988-98 run.
I've seen a little bit of it. My strongest memory is actually that my dad wouldn't let us watch it because it was too liberal.
It ought to be really good with the antics of the current admin.
Last man standing will be on Fox, that's more conservative.
Oh man, this would be so refreshing and totally not fucking done into the ground.
Success of shows depends on the writers hope they get some of the best! Candice can certainly deliver the lines.
I remembered! Dan Quayle, Phyllis Schaffly and the family values folks were quite upset with the show depicting an independent single woman talking openly about sex, women's equality, right to choose etc.
The original show was very entertaining and rather unique for it's time, what with Ronnie setting the pace of politics. Today, there are countless ways to get a dose of political snarkiness, so I fear this will be just another drop in the very deep bucket.
Besides, Robert Pastorelli, who played the very zen "Eldin the house-painter" died years ago, so there goes a big chunk of what I enjoyed in the original series.
I believe the actor that was the bar owner died as well.
The original was quite good and tackled the subject matter very well, I would really hope they get it right again but we will see.
Did anyone catch premier last night? It was pretty funny. They had HRC interviewing as MB's secretary and a line about HRC's email experience and lots of it!! She already trolled Trump on Twitter. If this continues the show would be really funny and totally hilarious if Trump actually Twits some reaction to the show.
We watched the premier and thought it was funny and smart. Laughed out loud a few times. We are not normally sitcom fans but this is a winner.
There was Murphy Brown segment on PBS New Hour yesterday.
'Laughter reaches every demographic,' says creator of new 'Murphy Brown'
I enjoyed it.
My girlfriend had never seen the originals, she thought this one was a hoot, so that's a good sign for new followers of it.
I thought it was great, also that they referenced the 'lost' members of the cast in a good way...I'll keep watching.
The Twitter battle...hilarious.
