I saw the premier - a very poor adaptation of the original with more emphasis on action. The original Magnum PI was IMO a light hearted bemusing parody of the old hard beaten Hollywood PI movies. There are just too many action shows already. Hope this gets cancelled quickly.

My wife was a staff writer on the original Magnum production crew, She refuses to even consider watching this remake, calling it an example of Hollywood's crass greed. But then she says she is also hoping they decide to remake one of her original stories, for the royalty check. (Speaking of crass greed.)

It wasn't terrible and there was a lot of homage to the original in it, I'll give it a bit more. It's the same producers as Hawaii 5-0 and MacGyver so I see crossovers happening, they already mentioned 5-0 on Magnum and it's the same medical examiner. Had very much the same feel as the new Hawaii 5-0.
I'm not sure if anyone caught the Magnum chased by the dogs scene past the new Higgins doing yoga, in the old it would have been Higgins doing Tai Chi I laughed.
The producers definitely grew up on the same shows that I did.

I agree with Jason, it wasn't terrible. I actually liked the new Higgins and the camera work was pretty good. But I just wasn't that impressed.

FTR, I wasn't a regular watcher of the original and was never a fan of either version of McGuyver or the reincarnation of H-5-0.

Nobody can say book'em Dano better than Ephraim Zimbalist Jr.!!

I liked old Higgins (aka Higgie baby!) mannerisms and his WW2 stories.

Got partway thru ep. 2 and deleted it. Not worth our time.

Very campy. Went back and watched a few of the originals. They seemed to keep a more serious tone overall but were able to balance lighthearted humor without going over the top. The new series doesn’t seem to have figured that out.
